Curcumin has become one of the most familiar botanical ingredients in the dietary supplement industry.

4. A GRAS History Dating Back to 2013

Curcumin C3 Complex® also carries a notable regulatory history.

In 2013, FDA responded to Sabinsa's GRAS notification for curcuminoids with a “no questions” letter regarding Sabinsa's conclusion that the ingredient was Generally Recognized as Safe under its specified intended conditions of use.

That distinction is worth stating accurately: FDA's “no questions” response is not the same as FDA approving an ingredient. Rather, the agency indicated that it had no questions regarding Sabinsa's GRAS conclusion based upon the information submitted.

For formulators, however, the underlying point remains important.

The GRAS dossier represents another established layer of safety and regulatory documentation surrounding the ingredient and also supports specified applications extending beyond conventional dietary supplements into selected food categories.

5. Quality Credentials Add Another Layer

On its own, a certification like this doesn't determine whether one curcumin ingredient is scientifically superior to another.
