Boosting Maximal Performance in Cyclists: Pomegranate Extract Enhances Recovery and Endurance in a Randomized Controlled Trial

Frame 1444

A study using POMANOX®, a highly concentrated pomegranate fruit extract, concluded that participants taking 700 mg daily, split into two 375 mg servings before exercise, significantly improved their total time to exhaustion (TTE). The increase ranged from 17.9 seconds to 2.83 minutes which is quite significant.

What is TTE? TTE measures how long an individual can sustain physical activity at a given intensity before reaching complete fatigue. It’s used to evaluate endurance and performance capacity. Here’s an example: imagine bench pressing 135 pounds for as long as possible with a maximum duration of 2 minutes and 13 seconds and achieving “X” as the number of repetitions. Enter POMANOX® at the prescribed dose, and suppose the TTE was extended by a hypothetical 27 seconds. As a result of the added time before exhaustion, one might be able to squeeze out as many as six or more extra repetitions during that extra 27 seconds, which would be a significant performance boost. If “X” was 29 repetitions, now it might be 35.

Study Implications: One can conclude that athletes and fitness buffs who supplement with POMANOX® at a daily dose of 700 mg can push their limits when training or engaging in competition. In the weight room, it could mean more repetitions and sets before fatigue sets in. For endurance sports, it allows for maintaining higher intensity for longer, enhancing performance and endurance.

When shopping for a performance-enhancing supplement, look for products that feature POMANOX®. Be certain that the dose is either 375 mg taken twice daily or 700 mg per single serving.
